El Diario de Noa es una película de drama romántico estadounidense de 2004 dirigida por Nick Cassavetes, escrita por Jeremy Leven y Jan Sardi, basada en la novela homónima de 1996 de Nicholas Sparks. There are many films that feature different montages, but it’s not often that one of them comes as a surprise. That’s what has happened in the case of ‘The Notebook’, as the popular adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel has arrived at Netflix UK with an alternative ending -or censored- to the one we saw in theaters and fans of the film have been quick to complain about it.
In this new ending – beware of spoilers – we no longer see the two protagonists holding hands just before dying, as the shot is cut just as they lie on the bed and then passes to some birds flying over a lake. The controversy has been such that Sparks himself has not been slow to comment on what happened:
«I didn’t know what was coming, so I found out just like the rest and it made me think «mmmh». For me, it’s a matter of opinion. Hey, there’s a different ending, you’re going to have an opinion one way or the other. (…) I like the original movie. I like the original.

Can you imagine another ending to `The Notebook’? Well, Netflix can. The film’s distributor has a second, more decaffeinated ending, and it’s the one that Netflix fans in the UK have been able to see. An ending that replaced the one we know in Europe and has drawn the ire of fans of the Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams film.
It is arguably one of the most tender love stories in the history of cinema, and since its release has provoked tears (many). That’s why when Netflix announced that The Notebook would become part of its catalog, fans of this beautiful love story prepared for the reunion.
I’m not big into romantic movies but I have seen #thenotebook and @netflix what you did wasnt ok that ending was beautiful it’s all I can ever hope for in my marriage so when I finally eat dirt I can go with the one I love dont you dare take that away!
